The Great Give
Although The Great Give has ended, you can still support Square Foot Theatre by making a gift.
At Square Foot Theatre, we strive to provide a home for our community of artists to create, grow, and connect; a place for audiences to escape the world for a few hours to laugh, cry, sing, and dance; a program that helps us reach beyond the doors of our theatre and into classrooms all over the state. Your support helps foster life-changing experiences for our actors to grow both personally and professionally.
“To me, Square Foot is one of the few places I can truly be myself. No one cares who you are, what you look like, or what role you play; everyone accepts everyone. Every time I walk in, I always feel welcomed, like I have a place. I feel as if I have a "confidence boost", knowing I don't have to be afraid to be myself and can make mistakes.”
“Square Foot gave me a home I didn’t know I needed, where I am always loved and supported, pushed and stretched as an artist, and surrounded by people who I love like family. SFT has given me the opportunity to do things I never thought I’d do, play roles I’d only dreamed of playing, and turned me into a better actor and person. SFT continually reminds me why I perform, reignites my love for theatre, and shows me the joy. I will forever be grateful to be one of the many square feet that make up this magnificent community.”
"Square Foot Theatre is a place where anyone can come and simply be their authentic selves. It fosters an environment of openness and inclusion that allows everyone both in the audience and on stage to feel welcome and accepted. SFT allowed me to feel comfortable in my skin and accept myself for who I am."
“The Square Foot Theatre has changed my life for the better. It has become another family for me, a creative outlet. It is a sanctuary, a place where myself, and many others, feel welcome, safe and above all else, loved for who they are. Square Foot isn't just a theatre to me, it's a family. It is a beautiful community that is so welcoming, warm and loving to everyone that walks through their doors. To have a place for the arts like this in the community is completely incredible. I think everyone and anyone that experiences theatre or performance art at Square Foot (whether they are a performer, volunteer, patron, etc.) comes out of it, not only as a better person, but feeling more whole than they did before. Square Foot Theatre has helped me grow as a person. I have met so many amazing people along the journey that is Square Foot and I consider them family. I don't know what I would do, or where I would be, without them in my life. I can wholeheartedly say that it is a completely positive and loving environment filled with some of the best people I know and I wouldn't have it any other way. I can say so many more wonderful things about Square Foot Theatre, but the beauty of it all can honestly not be put into words. It's all in the experience!!! I love Square Foot Theatre and can't wait until I can walk through those doors again to my home away from home!”
"The Square Foot Theatre has been my home away from home for the past 11 years. The staff's constant support and guidance has pushed me past my comfort zone, and allowed me to become the performer and person I am today. I am eternally grateful that some of my biggest challenges, accomplishments, and friendships all came from this amazing place. I am thankful for all of the opportunities this theatre company has given me. From black box shows to workshops with a Tony award nominee, I'm so honored to be a part of the journey!”
“What sets the Square Foot Theatre aside from other theater companies (aside from the amazing quality of each production) is the level of professionalism, warmth, and compassion the members of the SFT team have for others. As a newcomer or returner, any time you walk through their doors you feel welcome!“
“It was amazing to be surrounded by people who lifted each other up while enjoying our art. SFT not only provided me with another chance to do my art, they provided me with an entire family. My intention of going into Newsies was to simply do a show. Never in a million years did I realize I would walk away with a whole support system when I unknowingly needed it the most. Being part of such a positive environment has given me the confidence to truly appreciate my own art, as well as step out of my comfort zone and do bigger and bolder things. I would happily, and without hesitation, return to SFT when given the opportunity to, and I graciously thank them for the life changing experience.”
"SFT has been a huge portion of my life. It helped me discover who I am as a person and continues to do so with every single encounter. I have a bigger family now than I ever imagined I could. I'm more than thankful for the amazing experiences I've been given as they are truly not repayable."
"As a parent, to see your child push through the fears and reach their goals is priceless. Square Foot gives us that and much more. Whether you love the arts and want to be on stage, want to see really great shows at even better prices or don’t even care much for theater - you will leave Square Foot with an appreciation for the arts. There’s really something for everyone. It’s one of a kind, our world needs more places that were built from a dream and love. It’s a gem."
“I moved to Connecticut for work 11 months ago. I didn’t really know anyone and I wanted to move back to Massachusetts so badly because I felt so alone. Then, I decided to branch out and I auditioned for Newsies. I met some of the kindest people and it brought back a passion I thought I left behind in college. I’m so grateful for SFT and the support system it brings.”
"I am so grateful for my time at Square Foot, as the community has always been so kind and supportive and has helped me to build my confidence both as a performer and as a person."
"I have been a part of The Square Foot Theatre Company from a very young age. After over 23 shows with SFT, this community has always provided me with a second home - allowing me to express myself in a strong, meaningful way. School hasn't always been the best environment for me, so to have a place like Square Foot to go to is something I am truly blessed for. Square Foot Theatre is a place I am beyond thankful for, and I remain very glad that I continue to do shows there. "
"SFT has given me opportunities to shine in ways that I may not have been able to elsewhere. It has helped me grow as a vocalist, an actor, and as a person."
Another amazing part of our SFT Family are the numerous volunteers who work tirelessly to help make our productions and theatre a success. All of the photos above are courtesy of Melissa Thibeault of Tabby Cat Studios, who graciously volunteers her time to take photos for each production among being the “jack of all trades” behind the scenes. We thank Melissa, along with her husband Jeff, who handles SFT’s sound. They are just two of the many “feet” that make up our amazing volunteer family. Thank you to all our volunteers for their tireless commitment and passion for Square Foot Theatre.
